New iPads coming to India on April 27th, 2012

Apple has officially announced that the new iPad with its Retina Display will entering Indian markets by the end of this month. Here are the officially disclosed prices from the press release.

Unlike the iPhone 4S, the new iPad is quite competitively priced - it's fractionally higher than the launch price of the iPad 2 and two days ahead of schedule in the calendar year. The new iPad, combined with the iPad 2 family gives you a dozen odd price points from 25k to 50k to choose from. (Source: Technolik, 16th April 2012)

Here's a look at the present iPad price matrix.

16GB New iPad Wi-Fi  - Rs. 30,500

32GB New iPad Wi-Fi - Rs. 36,500

64GB New iPad Wi-Fi - Rs. 42,500

Sony releasing XPLOD car stereos with MirrorLink

Sony has confirmed that it will expand its Xplod line of car stereos offered in India with four new models from the XAV series. Between April and June this year, Sony will release XAV-701BT, XAV-601BT, XAV-64BT, and XAV-63 with more relevant features, while not forgetting the good-old optical storage.

The XAV-701BT gets a 7 inch screen, while the 601BT has a 6.1 inch screen, so now we know what those numbers in the model names mean. Along the same lines, it looks like the BT stands for Bluetooth compatibility with an external microphone for hands-free control. With the exception of XAV-63, all other models can hook with an iPod or an iPhone for audio-video playback, but this requires getting a Sony RC-202IPV iPod cable. In addition, the XAV-701BT and 601BT feature dual-USB and MirrorLink connectivity. The dual-USB feature lets the player simultaneously connect to a storage device and a smart-phone. MirrorLink allows compatible devices to share screen space, and I am guessing Sony is already selling a couple of those. It should be available in the market by June'12. (Source: Technolik, 12th April 2012)
